Key Nutrition Tips for Kids

  • Be physically active at least 1 hour 5 days a week.
  • Eat at least 5 servings of fruits or veggies every day.
  • Eat breakfast every morning.
  • Drink several glasses of fat-free milk every day.
  • Limit screen time to 1 hour each day. (Screen time includes the TV, computer, and electronic games.)
  • Don’t eat while watching TV or while on the computer.
  • To lose weight—write down everything you eat and every activity you do for a week. Then figure out which foods or activities you should cut out and which ones you should add to.

Here’s a FREE activity pyramid so kids can track the amount of exercise they get each day and how much screen time they get. Screen time is time spent in front of the TV, computer, hand-held games or texting on the phone.
